Vinyasa is a flowing style of Hatha Yoga where movement and breath are linked. Likened to a dynamic dance, it incorporates a deep breathing technique (ujjayi), application of internal locks (bandhas) and gaze (dristi) to help heighten focus and awareness. Moving from pose to pose with the breath builds internal heat that purifies the layers of the body (koshas). This practice asks students to internalize their experience of the postures (asanas), the only requirements of which are steadiness and joy.
